Digital HT Neutral Density Filters
These filters reduce the amount of light passing through the camera lens without changing the color of the scene. They are especially useful in bright light conditions to help prevent overexposure. Neutral Density filters also allow proper exposure at a wider lens opening for reduced depth-of-field to highlight a key subject by making the foreground and/or background out of focus.
- Eliminates overly bright, washed-out images
- Balances exposure
- Controls depth-of-field
- Allows slower shutter speeds to produce blurred motion effects

Digital HT Color-Grad® Neutral Density Filters
Often, you want to balance light intensity between two areas within a scene. This is important outdoors to allow more sky detail while properly exposing the foreground. Exposing for the foreground will produce a washed-out, over-exposed sky, exposing for the sky will leave the foreground dark, underexposed.
- Part clear, part neutral density, with a smoothly graded transition between
- A Color-Grad ND.6-to-clear is often best for balancing sky to foreground
- Neutral gray appearance drops exposure

Digital HT Filters
Digital HT filters are a state-of-the-art technological breakthrough in multi-coated photo and video filters. Made for the discerning professional and imaging enthusiast, Digital HT filters with Hi-Trans® Double-Sided Titanium Multi-Coating surpass even military specifications for hardness and durability.*
Digital HT - High Transmission - filters offer the strength of a Titanium coating combined with the purest optical quality glass and Tiffens Academy-Award-winning ColorCore technology. They present unmatched scratch-resistant durability and worry-free cleaning while other coated filters on the market today cautiously suggest delicate, if any, cleaning procedures, in fear of destroying the coating (and thereby the filter).
And thats not all ? these High Transmission filters feature a low profile titanium finish ring and anti-reflective black lock ring which sets these filters apart from the rest.
Digital HT filters are made in the USA and come with a 10-year warranty ? your guarantee of quality assurance. More...
Digital HT filters are available as: Digital Ultra Clear, Haze 86 (with 86% UV absorption), Circular Polarizer, 812® Warming Filter, ND 0.6, ND 1.2, Soft/FX® 3, Star 4 Point 2, and Color-Grad® ND 0.6 in sizes 52mm-82mm. Each filter comes with its own distinctive soft pouch for storage when not in use.
Tiffens research and development team has conquered the challenges of multi-coating. No longer is your investment in a multi-coated filter subject to the everyday challenges of dirt, humidity, and potential scratching which can render your multi-coated filter useless.
Along with the extreme toughness and durability, Tiffen Digital HT Titanium Coating features excellent Anti-Reflective and Transmission (HT ? High Transmission) characteristics. The Titanium coating consistently reflects less than 1% of the imaging light hitting the front surface of the filter while transmitting nearly 99%.
* Independent testing based on these specifications was conducted at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Rochester, NY.
1. Abrasion test ? Severe abrasion test according to MIL-C-48497, using eraser stub certified to MIL-E-12387.
2. Adhesion test ? tape adhesion test according to MIL-C-48497, using adhesive tape certified to MIL-A-A113 rev C.
3. Humidity Test ? humidity test in accordance with MIL-C-48497, 95% RH at 50 degrees C for 24 hours.
Why You Need Tiffen Optical Filters
There is something to be said for creating images at the moment of exposure—the way most of the worlds greatest pictures have been made. Tiffen optical filters let you do just that, by being able to preview the effect youll get when it matters most—when youre behind the camera.
There is nothing wrong with using electronic plug-in filter programs that let you add effects or manipulate the image after its taken. But if you really want to own the final images you compose, theres no substitute for Tiffen optical filters. Theyre simply unsurpassed when it comes to controlling color balance and special effects with precision, repeatability, and convenience.
Its important to remember that filtering the light, before it passes through the lens and strikes the image sensor or film, has important advantages. It lets you match the brightness range of the scene to the characteristics of the capture medium, and get professional quality results even under tough lighting conditions. Tiffen Polarizing filters actually polarize the light, to eliminate reflections on glass and water surfaces while retaining sub-surface details. Neither of these effects are possible with after-the-fact plug-in filter systems, which can only provide filter effects, not true light filtration.
